back on track

Wednesday, May 24, 2006

I cant make up my mind on where to "park" my blog entries. Xanga's ok but I still dont like the fact that membership is required in order to make comments. So, back to blogspot.

Anyway, its May. I left M and started work at NUS 3 days ago. The process of getting hired here was daunting, I submitted my application in December 05 and after 5 months of interviews, phonecalls, anxiety attacks and constant prayers, here I am sitting at my new cubicle at the corner of the room, with high partitions, ample storage and working space and total privacy. Things I left behind in 2003 when I left HDB. I am back on track, professionally, and if there are no major problems, I'll "settle down" here career-wise.

And why not? The environments' great. I have wonderful colleagues at the School of Medicine's IT Unit - Kevin, the only male in the unit before I came, was born on 8th August too! although 6 years earlier than me heh. Loo See is from the same NTU CE 1999 batch as me. Gek Luang was the first to greet me on my 1st day of work and made me feel at ease with her cheerful banter, she asked me to add her in my MSN list and then gave me the entire unit's MSN accounts too, I've got them all in my MSN list now heh. Leo's cubicle is just beside mine and she was the one who helped me setup my PC and accounts, teached me admin stuff like where to collect stationery items and how to send internal mails, she also brought me up to the Dean's office and introduced me to some of the staff there. Qui Ying has her own room which is beside the Manager's, so I have not had the chance to interact with her. My manager, Vincent, is a serious man who is very clear on work expectations. Its been only 2.5 days on the job and I'm already looking forward to a lot of good years contributing and working here.

Nope. 6 years younger.
I think apart from the Manager, I'm the oldest one in the unit. Thats sad.. To be confirmed.
